Al Sharpton Reveals Fascinating Daddy Drama Surrounding Don Jr’s Testimony that Could Derail Trump’s Fraud Case
Al Sharpton had remarkably good things to say about the Trump children Wednesday morning before sharing the family drama that could derail Trump’s fraud case.
Rev. Sharpton’s insight came Wednesday morning during an appearance on Morning Joe, just hours before Donald Trump Jr. is set to testify in the fraud trial involving the Trump Organization and, of course, former President Donald Trump. The specter of having children testify in a court appears to have understandably freaked the former president out, evidenced by a 2:30 AM social media post attacking the judge with “leave my children alone!”
Sharpton has long been a character in New York City — much like the Trumps — and so his insight into how the children treat him and others, and their father, was remarkably insightful. Jonathan Lemire teed Sharpton up with, “Give us a character sketch, if you will, of Donald Trump, jr. What he’s going to say tonight.”
Sharpton went out of his way to laud the always respectful, charming, and diplomatic Trump kids, especially before the Trump political era began. But Sharpton warned that all of the Trump kids want is their father’s approval, and in a court of law, that could get them in trouble.”
“Very deferential, very nice,” he said of the Trump kids. “Wanted to talk, awkward chit chat. When they got political, it was a little more guarded. A little more. ‘Well, I saw Dad did a tweet against you, but, you know, you were really, really not enemies. We just disagree,'” he said, adding “was a little more trying to play diplomatic.”
“I think the biggest challenge for Donald Junior is that they have always played to the audience of one, their father,” he continued. And when he gets on the stand, he’s played to an audience of one, a judge. If he gets on the stand and plays the role of his audience of his father, he could get himself in a lot of trouble.”
Joe Scarborough called that “brilliant insight” before noting that Ivanka Trump is the only child who no longer needs the generous largesse of their father and has struck a more independent position than Don Jr. or Eric Trump.
