Gutfeld Suggests DOJ ‘Investigate’ AP For ‘Misinformation’ Over JD Vance ‘Fact of Life’ Post
Fox News host Greg Gutfeld asked whether the Associated Press should be looked at by the Department of Justice for “misinformation” after the outlet updated an out of context JD Vance quote.
AP put out an X post that partially quoted Vance where the Republican vice presidential nominee lamented that school shootings have become a “fact of life” following a shooting at a Georgia high school where four people were killed.
“JD Vance says school shootings are a ‘fact of life,’ calls for better security,” read AP’s original post, seen in screenshot below.
The post was deleted as it left out critical context to the quote.
“Look, I don’t like this, I don’t like to admit this, I don’t like that this is a fact of life, but if you are a psycho and you want to make headlines, you realize that our schools are soft targets,” Vance actually said during an Arizona campaign rally.
AP put out a fuller post where they added the context that Vance was saying he does not like that shootings have become a “fact of life,” but Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign promoted the original bare-bones post.
This post replaces an earlier post that was deleted to add context to the partial quote from Vance.

“There’s little question that the AP or Harris campaign knew exactly what they were doing. I wonder how AP would feel about it if it happened to them? A headline might read: AP Is Against Lying To People,’ but, you know, take away the ‘Against,’ you got a whole different meaning and one that is the truth,” Gutfeld said on Friday.
The Fox News host referenced the Department of Justice’s efforts to stop foreign-sponsored misinformation and disinformation campaigns and asked whether AP should be looked at if misinformation is such a concern.
“Misinformation is the thing the Dems keep railing on and underneath that, it’s anything they disagree with,” Gutfeld said. “Meanwhile, shouldn’t the DOJ be investigating AP? I mean, if you’re going to go after misinformation/disinformation, it’s really our media that has mastered that class.”
