Trump Awarded Pin For Making French Fries While Visiting Hurricane Devastated North Carolina Town
Former President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump showed off a pin he was awarded for his performance behind a fryer over the weekend in a lighter moment during his visit to a town devastated by Hurricane Helene on Monday.
After making some remarks, Trump ceded a podium set up in Swannanoa, North Carolina to Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC), who thanked Trump “for taking the time to come to western North Carolina. We’ve seen other folks do a fly over. It is so heartening to see you here with some dust on your shoes, actually seeing what’s taken place.”
“It means so much to the folks here whose lives have been turned upside down, whose homes have been destroyed, who’s lost loved ones, whose businesses have been destroyed. We’re so incredibly honored that you’re going to help keep the emphasis on us rebuilding this beautiful community,” he continued before bringing up Trump’s appearance at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania on Sunday.
“For those of you who who did not get to see it, I offered, because you know, I also own McDonald’s restaurants, I know that you perfected your skills behind the counter a day or so ago. And it was my honor to present President Trump with the French Fries Certification Pin,” announced Edwards as Trump held up his pin for the cameras to see. “So, thank you so much for being here, God bless you.”
“Thank you very much, that’s really nice,” said Trump before moving back behind the podium.
Trump’s “shift” at the fast food chain received a lot of attention online and in the press, with many arguing that it was a wise move from his campaign.
“I think this was an unbelievably smart move! Because one thing that has differentiated Donald Trump from other really wealthy politicians is that he has never been seen as the aloof, the billionaire who would never deign to hang out with the commoners,” submitted pollster Kristen Soltis-Anderson on Monday morning. “Like he has always sort of portrayed himself as I’m the rich guy who doesn’t really like the other rich guys. I’m one of you, and this is part of this. I think this was insanely smart!”
