San Francisco 49ers star defensive end Nick Bosa said wearing a MAGA hat on live TV was “well worth it” even in the event that NFL fines him for it.

After a win over the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 27, Bosa crashed his teammates’ post-game interview by sneaking up behind them and flashing the MAGA hat on his head. During the press conference later that night, Bosa declined to elaborate further on his decision and simply said, “I think it’s an important time.”

Opinions on the move were split along party lines, with the right praising it and the left wondering why Bosa wasn’t told to “shut up and dribble” like other left-leaning athletes were.

The NFL prohibits players from wearing articles of clothing with non-league-approved messages; and CBS Sports insider Jonathan Jones recently reported that the league was looking into the matter.

Speaking to the media Wednesday — hours after Donald Trump was declared the winner of the 2024 election — Bosa revealed the fine wouldn’t matter much to him.

“I don’t know,” when asked if he thought he’d be fined. “I haven’t gotten one yet; but if it comes, it comes.”

Bosa added that he was well aware of the possibility of getting fined, but the public display was “well worth it.”

Asked about the motivation behind the move, he again declined to go into details.

“I don’t think my position on speaking about it is gonna change,” Bosa said. “Clearly, the nation spoke and we got what we got.”
