Pat McAfee Show Bursts Into Laughter In Response to McAfee Being Grilled About ‘Journalistic Standards’
The entire crew of The Pat McAfee Show laughed at McAfee being questioned about upholding journalistic standards at a recent panel discussion.
McAfee on Wednesday participated in ESPN’s annual media day. During the panel discussion, CNBC’s Alex Sherman asked him a question regarding the journalistic standards on his show. That set off a rant where McAfee accused the media — including some of the people in the room with him — of misrepresenting and mischaracterizing his show.
On Thursday’s episode of his show, McAfee briefly touched on the situation.
“Yesterday, we missed the show because I had to travel up to ESPN’s campus to do a town hall-type event with a bunch of journalists,” he said, “and it was a good time. It was great to see everybody. I’ll tell you what, I love the people that are running ESPN right now. I loved [reorganization]; and it was a blast all the way up until he said, ‘Journalistic standards!'”
What followed was 20 seconds of McAfee and his crew mockingly laughing at Sherman’s question from the day before. McAfee then added, “Do they have that in sports media?” The show then went to a commercial break.
The clip got the attention of a handful of people in the industry, including longtime ESPN reporter Ed Werder.
People in our business who have journalistic standards and still consider them important deserve respect — not to have you mocking them. https://t.co/5cgsIqd9qP

We know McAfee isn’t Bob Ley. Nobody in or out of the industry thinks PMS is OTL. https://t.co/o5I1Am2dWO
