Top NBA insider Shams Charania announced on Monday that he has joined ESPN. He’ll take the place of the recently retired Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski and Charania were regarded as the two biggest insiders in the world of basketball. Their scoops were often reported just seconds apart as one sought to break the league’s biggest deals before the other. For his usually groundbreaking news, Wojnarowski’s reports were often referred to as “Woj bombs.”

On Sept. 18th, Wojnarowski announced his retirement from the reporting business. He now serves as the general manager for the men’s basketball team as St. Bonaventure University — his alma mater.

Charania, who most recently worked for The Athletic and Stadium, announced the move in a tweet.

“I am honored to join ESPN as the company’s Senior NBA Insider,” Charania said. “I can’t wait to be part of an incredible group of colleagues at ESPN and serve the sports audience worldwide.”
