‘Really?!’ Stephen A. Smith Throws Down Over Sean Hannity’s Claim Trump Is ‘Dialed In’

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith ran a strong defense of Vice President Kamala Harris in a fiery Fox News primetime segment as he rebutted host Sean Hannity’s claim that former President Donald Trump was more “dialed in” than his “struggling” Democratic opponent.

Smith brought his no-nonsense approach to the feisty clash that closed out Thursday night’s sit-down.

Setting the tone, Hannity launched a critique of Harris, arguing that she often fails to state her positions and resorts to “word salads.” According to Hannity, Harris is “hiding her true beliefs” and can’t convey a consistent message—a flaw he claimed Trump does not share.

The host said: “She does these interviews, and I argue to you about the reason she is struggling. She’s like tied up in a pretzel because she can’t express what she has stated publicly.”

He continued: “She has stated in the past to decriminalize illegal immigration, free food, housing, health care, education, sex change operations and a path to citizenship or banning fracking, banning offshore drilling, so she has to, you know, give us word salad because she won’t tell us how she really feels, she’s hiding her true beliefs.”

“Donald Trump doesn’t do that,” he added.

Smith, however, wasn’t buying it, he pushed back on criticism of Harris’s speaking out her own policy position when serving within the Biden administration, arguing “it wasn’t her job to lead.”

He then rounded on Hannity’s claims Trump was a better speaker: “I know you aren’t talking about somebody being lucid and cogent and enunciating their thoughts with clarity and you are bragging about Donald Trump. We can’t be watching the same stuff if that’s what you are doing.”

Hannity doubled down. “Oh, I am,” he replied confidently.

Smith continued: “You are going to do that today? Senator Lindsey Graham is about to come on the show. That man can articulate himself. Not Donald Trump now.”

“I have sat with him for hour after hour after hour, topic after topic after topic, and he is so dialed in,” Hannity insisted.

Smith remained skeptical, responding simply: “Really?”

Hannity then accused Democrats and Harris of “lying” about President Joe Biden’s cognitive ability.

The guest hit back: “What is she supposed to say, Sean? What is she supposed to say? Is she supposed to sit up there and say you know what, my president, my boss… You don’t timeout your boss. I tell the truth on my show but guess what, I said I do.”

Hannity continued saying that having lied about Biden’s condition, Harris was now lying about her policy positions.

“Are you sure you want to make the case about somebody lying? Are you sure about that?” Smith shot back.

In conclusion the guest said: “The question is, will it be for better or will it be for worse [if Trump wins]? The cesspool that we look at as the nation’s capital, if you got him back in office and he’s only on a revenge tour and he’s not focused on doing what it takes to lead the country. Where will that lead the country? You are not bringing that part up.”

He added: “So again we might not like something on the left, we might not like something on the right, these are the two candidates we’ve got to work with and when you bring up issues in terms of character or in terms of being truthful or whatever, let me tell you something right now, you can bring a whole bunch of Republicans and I would be cool with it, you can’t bring up Trump to make a case against somebody else using those arguments. You can’t do that.”
