Steve Bannon Says Hunter Biden Wouldn’t ‘Last 48 Hours’ in Prison After His Own Four Month Stretch: These Are ‘Violent Places’
Steve Bannon claimed Hunter Biden might not “last” 48 hours in prison following his own four month stretch behind bars.
The once chief strategist for former President Donald Trump completed a four month stay in federal prison over his refusal to cooperate with subpoenas from the congressional subcommittee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Bannon has referred to himself as a “political prisoner.”
In an interview with Daily Mail following his release, Bannon turned his attention to President Joe Biden’s son and his own legal woes. Hunter Biden is facing sentencing in December for tax and gun charges.
“I don’t think Hunter Biden would last 48 hours in a federal prison,” Bannon said, adding, “I think that it would be too much for him, particularly with his previous drug addiction.”
Bannon cited his time in the Navy as preparation for the living conditions of prison, but called prisons “dangerous, tough places.” Bannon said he’s not sure Hunter Biden “can handle it.”
“These places are violent places. There’s lots of drugs. This drug, K2 is all over these prisons,” he said, referring to synthetic marijuana that is more easily smuggled into prisons.
Bannon argued the conditions of prison and the potential that Hunter Biden will get actual prison time will convince his father to pardon him, something the president has repeatedly said he wouldn’t do.
“That’s why you have to be maniacally focused 24 hours a day. I think it’s evident to me that Joe Biden is going to have to pardon his son,” Bannon said.
Trump has said he’s open to pardoning Hunter Biden. The former president has called Biden a “bad boy,” but said him going to prison would not be good for the country.
Following his release from prison, Bannon urged Trump to declare victory early if his results look similar to 2020, claiming Democrats will try and steal the election.
“He should stand up and say: ‘Hey, I’ve won this. And we have teams right now that are going to make sure that this thing is not going to be stolen,” he said.
