‘I Think My Body Is Pretty Good’: Top 5 Most Insane Moments From Congress Gone Wild
A House Oversight Committee turned to chaos late Thursday night and was derailed far off course from its intended purpose after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) set off a firestorm by mocking Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s (D-TX) appearance.
The personal insults were far from the only wild moments out of the meeting which fell into near-total disorder for about an hour. House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) struggled to keep things focused on the issue at hand, which was supposed to be discussing holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.
Here is a look at the five most insane moments of the fiery hearing:
Personal insults lead to ‘bleached blonde, bad-built, butch body’ drop:
Greene first insulted Crockett after the Democratic lawmaker questioned the relevance of Greene asking if any committee members had worked with the judge presiding over Donald Trump’s hush money trial in Manhattan.
Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) – who sits on the committee — worked with a consulting firm that employs the daughter of Judge Juan Merchan.
The back and forth led to Greene accusing Crockett of having “fake eyelashes” that were preventing her from being able to read properly. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) jumped into the mix to condemn Greene for breaking decorum rules. Crockett was incensed and eventually accused Greene of being a “bleached blonde, bad-built, butch body” when she was trying to get “clarification” from Comer on the committee rules.

Dramatic reading of Comer fundraising email:
Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) held a “spirited” reading of a fundraising email from Comer, the committee’s chair.
Moskowitz first complained about the hearing being moved “so that members could go to New York and attend the Trump hearing.”
He then read from the fundraising email in which Comer claimed he was facing an “onslaught” of attacks from Democrats. He also slammed President Joe Biden for asserting executive privilege to prevent the release of taped interviews with Special Counsel Robert Hur. Hur did not recommended charges against Biden in the classified documents probe, but comments from his report on Biden’s memory kicked off attacks on the president’s competency by conservative critics.
“I would like to do a spirited reading of the campaign email sent out by the chairman, and it’s on lovely stationery. In fact, it says from the desk of the oversight chairman. I’m not sure you can do that, but I’m not an ethics expert,” Moskowitz said.
He eventually entered the email into the record, which Comer gladly accepted.
Giant ‘sleeping’ Trump:
Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) had his own odd moment during the hearing when he brought out a blown-up photo of Trump allegedly sleeping during his hush money trial. Multiple reports have suggested the former president has fallen asleep at his trial where he faces more than 30 felony convictions as he’s had his eyes closed for long periods of time.
Garcia used his time during the hearing to discuss the reports in front of the image of Trump.
Greene declares she ‘looks pretty good’ as two MORE lawmakers go at it:
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) snapped at Goldman as Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) was pressing Comer to adjourn the chaotic hearing.
Goldman accused Luna of missing votes after she gave a sarcastic response to Raskin saying, “these 17-hour days” might not be working in the committee’s favor.
“You have a lot to say being that you’re on retainer for the judge’s daughter,” she said. “Sorry, trust fund kid.”

Amid calls for Luna’s words to be stricken from the record, she defended herself by saying Democrats were attacking Greene’s “body.”
“I think my body’s pretty good. I’m going to be 50 this month,” Greene said as Raskin continued asking for the committee to be adjourned.
Voters get an apology for the wild hearing…from Lauren Boebert:
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), who is no stranger to heated exchanges in the House, offered an apology to the American people during the hearing for just how off-topic and intense it got.

“I don’t think this is the best use of our time when we are squabbling. It’s one thing to have fun and laugh as members of Congress and try to find humor or some sort of light-heartedness in what we are doing,” she said. “But when things get as heated as they have, it’s unfortunately an embarrassment on our body as a whole. So, I just want to personally apologize to the American people for that.”
