Fox’s Jessica Tarlov Roasts Co-Host Jesse Watters Over Attacks on Tim Walz: ‘Your Masculinity Shtick!’
A discussion about masculinity on The Five eventually led to Jessica Tarlov taking a shot at Jesse Watters for his attacks on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
On Monday’s episode, the desk talked about the media “fawning” over Doug Emhoff — the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris — for “reshaping the perception of masculinity.” In a recent interview with Jen Psaki, the second gentleman talked about his role as a supportive spouse for Harris.
When Tarlov pivoted to Walz and Donald Trump attending college football games over the weekend, co-host Jeanine Pirro argued there was a dramatic difference in how the two men were received at their respective games.
Tarlov explained why she felt that was inaccurate:
TARLOV: I know you don’t like him, but you can’t change the fact that–
PIRRO: Change what fact?
TARLOV: Well, let me finish my sentence, and I’ll tell you that he is running to be vice president, that he has the highest favorability of anyone on either ticket; and you continuing to demean him and call him “assistant coach Walz” and say he’s “stolen” valor and he’s a loser and he doesn’t know about clean air filters–
Watters jumped in to criticize the way Walz was seen enthusiastically hugging the mascot of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. Tarlov then challenged him by bringing up the fact that he uses straws when, according to Watters himself, using straws for drinks isn’t masculine.
WATTERS: Who hugs a mascot like that, Jessica? He embraced the mascot like it was his mother!
TARLOV: We’ve all seen you use a straw.
WATTERS: When?
TARLOV: There is footage of you using a straw — your masculinity shtick!
WATTERS: That was for television! I don’t use straws in my private life.
