‘You Got Something Against My Mom?’ Fox News Election Segment Takes Awkward Turn
A segment about the presidential election became awkward on Monday’s edition of The Five after co-host Jessica Tarlov revealed her mom is knocking on doors for Vice President Kamala Harris.
It was the final show before polls open on Election Day in the battle between Harris and former President Donald Trump, who are locked in a Tight Race™. Both candidates stumped in Pennsylvania, which figures to be a crucial swing state. During the segment, co-host Greg Gutfeld noted that Lady Gaga and her restauranteur father have publicly endorsed Harris and Trump, respectively.
“So, who has a closer grip on reality of everyday Americans?” he asked Tarlov. “The one who feels the effects of a bad economy or crime or emigration – the restaurant owner in a crime-plagued city? Or the pop star, his daughter? Shouldn’t she listen to her dad instead of her friends?”
“I think she is listening to herself,” Tarlov replied. “She was born this way and has always lived this way… There’s no reason to minimize her for this.”
Tarlov went on to say that the Harris campaign has had to turn away door-knocking volunteers because the campaign has more than enough.
“The Harris campaign was knocking on 2,000 doors a minute across Pennsylvania,” she said.
“Two thousand a minute, you say?” Gutfeld reacted.
“A minute!” Tarlov replied. “And you just don’t hear those kinds of stories from the Trump campaign.”
Gutfeld then suggested the 2,000 number is fake.
“They’re not lies,” she said. “My mom is right now in Scranton knocking on doors.”
“Oh,” co-host Jeanine Pirro responded.
Her reaction appeared not to land well with Tarlov.
“You got something against my mom?” she asked as Gutfeld laughed.
“What?” Pirro responded, somewhat incredulously.
After some very brief crosstalk, Pirro denied ill intent.
“No, we all said, ‘Wow,'” she explained.
Tarlov replied, “Ok,” and proceeded to contrast the closing messages of Harris and Trump.
Last month, Pirro accused Tarlov of hating Republicans in what was one of many, many, many throwdowns the two have had.
