‘More Bullsh*t from JD Vance’: Josh Shapiro Blasts Republican VP Nominee on Fox News
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro did not hold back while reacting to a social media post from Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance, who suggested Shapiro is “complicit in voter fraud.”
At issue is early voting in Pennsylvania, whose Bucks County in suburban Philadelphia seemed ill-prepared to handle the unexpectedly high volume of voters. The result was longer-than-expected lines, and some voters were turned away even before they got in line before the 5 p.m. cutoff. The campaign of former President Donald Trump asked for and received from a judge an extension of early voting in the county.
On Thursday’s Special Report on Fox News, host Bret Baier asked Shapiro about the mishap.
“Now there is a concern about, just the other day, some lines that were shut down by, it looked like Democratic operatives who stopped a line in Bucks County,” Baier said. “What’s happening with that?”
“The issue was resolved so a legal-eligible voter could be counted in this election,” the governor replied. “And actually, I was pleased to see the Trump campaign acknowledge the work that myself and Secretary [Al] Schmidt are doing here in Pennsylvania.”
“The concern was that it was specifically being cut off,” Baier followed up before quoting Sen. Vance. “J.D. Vance put on X, ‘This is illegal… @JoshShapiro should do something about these operatives in his own party depriving people of their right to vote. If he doesn’t, he’s complicit in voter fraud.'”
“Yeah, that’s just more bullshit from J.D. Vance,” Shapiro responded. “Remember, Bret, our system is run by Republican and Democratic clerks of elections in our 67 counties. It’s overseen by my secretary of state, Bret, who is a Republican… I think everybody needs to take a deep breath and understand that it is our fellow Pennsylvanians who are running these elections, and we will, again, have a free and fair, safe and secure election.”
