Mick Mulvaney Clashes With Philippe Reines Over Biden’s Cognitive Health: ‘Come On, Now… That Was Not a Normal Person up There’

Former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney clashed with former Hillary Clinton senior adviser Philippe Reines over President Joe Biden’s alleged cognitive decline on Thursday.

During an appearance on NewsNation’s Cuomo, Mulvaney criticized Biden’s performance on Thursday evening, which saw him confuse Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vice President Kamala Harris for former President Donald Trump all in the space of just a few hours.

“The team at Bedminster right now is cheering,” said Mulvaney. “They were afraid to death that Joe Biden would crash and burn, and he didn’t, okay? They’re also afraid he might knock it absolutely out of the park, and he didn’t. The slow bleed is going to continue.”

He continued, “But you’re right, they don’t have a way, the Democrats don’t have a way to get rid of Joe Biden, and the likely head of the ticket in November is going to be Joe Biden, and nothing is better for Donald Trump than that right now. He’s going to win the election if Joe Biden is on the other side of the ticket. Period. End of story.”

Reines shook his head in disagreement before arguing, “Donald Trump wants to run against the debate Joe Biden, not the Joe Biden you just saw.”

“Oh my goodness gracious, Philippe. Seriously,” Mulvaney shot back. “People were cringing. This was hard to watch as an American. The whispering was just creepy. Come on, now. Let’s have a reasonable conversation. That was not a normal person up there. It’s not somebody we should be considering as president of the United States.”

After Reines questioned, “Tonight?” Mulvaney concluded, “What am I missing here? That’s not normal!”
