James Carville Calls It ‘Depressing’ Millions ‘Fell’ for Trump’s ‘Sh*t’ in Election: ‘I’m In a Very, Very Dark Tunnel Right Now’
Democratic strategist James Carville said that his party had “every advantage” in the presidential election, but none of it mattered in the end.
In a video published Thursday for Politicon, Carville called Donald Trump’s election victory “depressing” while accusing the millions who voted for him of falling for the former president’s “shit.”
“I have to reevaluate. I’m sure I’ll come up with something to make me feel good again, but right now today it’s hard, I’ll be honest with you. And the hardest thing is that I look across this country and tens of millions of people fell for this shit, and it’s depressing,” Carville said, dismissing Trump as a “felonious bigot.”
Carville touted Vice President Kamala Harris lapping Republicans on fundraising and her support from various celebrities and former presidents, but he said none of it could overcome the perception that the Democratic Party is in “disorder.”
“I’ll snap out of it, but I’m in a very, very dark tunnel right now,” he said.
Voters saw more “order” from Trump on issues like the southern border, the economy, and foreign policy, Carville argued, though the Democrat insisted none of these issues are as bad as Trump and his team paint them to be.
At the end of the day, the strategist declared, “change” is what wins elections and Trump was able to sell himself as a change from Harris and President Joe Biden’s administration.
“We had every advantage, but we had the perception of disorder on every kind of level, border policy, foreign policy, economic policy,” he said. “At the end of the day, it seems to me that the operative word here is that people want order and will pay anything to have order.”
