‘F*cking A*shole!’ Mike Tyson Reveals Why He Slapped Jake Paul At Pre-Fight Weigh-In
Legendary boxer Mike Tyson revealed that he slapped YouTube-star-turned-boxer Jake Paul at Thursday’s pre-fight weigh-in because his rival stepped on his toe as the pair faced off.
During the event, just 24 hours before the two fight in the ring, Tyson stunned onlookers when he suddenly struck Paul at the Toyota Music Factory in Las Colinas.
“I was in my socks, and he had on shoes,” Tyson told the New York Post. “He stepped on my toe because he is a fucking asshole. I wanted to think it happened by accident. But now I think it may have happened on purpose.”
The smack left Paul unfazed — at least outwardly.
“He hits like a bitch… He must die,” Paul fired back. Tyson claimed he didn’t hear the taunt at the time as security personnel rushed between the fighters to push them apart.
Also speaking to the Post, a representative for Tyson added: “Jake has been poking the bear the whole time. Mike slapped the shit out of him.”
For Tyson, the slap wasn’t just about pain but principle.
“I was in a lot of pain,” Tyson admitted. “I had to reciprocate.”
When asked by a reporter what he’d say to Paul if they were face-to-face again, Tyson replied: “Talking’s over.”
The dramatic showdown sets an electric tone for Friday’s main event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where Tyson, a 58-year old heavyweight icon with decades of legacy, will step into the ring with Paul, a 27-year-old provocateur carving out a niche in celebrity boxing.
