Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston was over the moon Thursday after the team’s win against the Pittsburgh Steelers during heavy snowfall.

Winston’s excitement was understandable considering how unfamiliar he was with the playing conditions. An Alabama native, Winston went to college at Florida State University before getting drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015. In 2020, he signed with the New Orleans Saints. Throughout his entire football career, warm weather in the South was basically all he knew.

That has changed in 2024 since signing with the Browns. In a division that includes the Steelers, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Cincinnati Bengals, Winston is now experiencing football in much more frigid conditions.

Heading into the game, he was clearly excited about it.

“I am so happy and grateful that the Lord has blessed me to play in some snow,” Winston said before kickoff, “to be in true football weather, in Cleveland, Ohio, at Huntington Bank Field today, to get him the glory. It’s a beautiful day.”

While most of the game had only light precipitation, that changed in the second half when the field turned completely white in just a matter of minutes.

Winston made the most of it.

After his team’s 24-19 win, Winston enthusiastically described how playing in the snow made him feel like he was in a movie.

“Man, you know, it was — it really was amazing,” Winston said. “I was just praying on the sideline because that fourth quarter, it was a whole paradigm shift. Like, we were playing so well offensively, and then bang, bang, back-to-back drives with turnovers. And I’m just like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ Like, this is really an NFL Films moment! The snow starts pouring down, my feet start getting heavy because I’m squishing through the snow, and, man, it was so good, and it was so great to end up getting that win.”
