Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair was pelted with trash as he left Sunday’s game at Jacksonville after he delivered a hit against quarterback Trevor Lawrence that resulted in the 25-year-old being carted off the field.

Lawrence slid while trying to convert a first down at the Houston 44-yard line in the second quarter with his team down 6-0.

Al-Shaair came in late and hit Lawrence hard enough for the FOX broadcast team to pick up the sound. Lawrence was laid out for several moments. Flags flew, and a fight predictably broke out on the field:

FOX NFL commentator Daryl Johnston condemned Al-Shaair over the hit.

“It’s everything you’re not supposed to do. Everything,” he said. “It’s disrespectful. There’s an honor that you give to your opponent on the football field, and you respect him.”

Al-Shaair was ejected over the hit. As the 27-year-old left the field, he was targeted by Jags fans who blasted him with trash:

Lawrence was able

to get up on his own but left EverBank Stadium on a cart while backup Mac Jones took over under center. ESPN reported:

Lawrence was down on the field for several minutes before eventually being taken off on a cart — sitting up in front — and the Jaguars ruled him out for the rest of the game with a concussion.Lawrence was not taken to a hospital.
